Person County Animal Services provides shelter and care for many animals each year.  We also provide great programs to the citizens of Person County such as Strut-A-Mutt and volunteering at the Shelter. We welcome donations of collars, leashes, towels (new or used), dog or cat treats, cat litter and monetary donations.

Spay and Neuter … it’s the only way!

Pet overpopulation is the leading killer of cats and dogs in our country.

  • An estimated 3.7 million animals are euthanized in animal shelters each year across the United States.
  • The majority of pet overpopulation comes from unaltered pets living in low-income neighborhoods.
  • In some Triangle NC shelters, up to 75% of all incoming animals are euthanized to make room for more.
  • Fifty thousand puppies and kittens are born every day in our country.
  • U.S. taxpayers spend up to $2 billion each year on services to collect, house, destroy and dispose of unwanted animals.

Check out these books from Person County Public Library.  Great reading and educational material regarding dogs and cats.
