Environmental Health is a division of the Person County Health Department and is responsible for providing services that protect and promote public health. Our program responsibilities include food and lodging inspections, the design and inspection of onsite wastewater disposal systems, the inspection and monitoring of private water supplies, and the investigation of environmental health complaints.

Food and Lodging Program
The Food and Lodging Program strives to protect public health by permitting and inspecting food service establishments and other regulated facilities and institutions that affect our lives daily.

Onsite Wastewater Program
The Onsite Wastewater Disposal Program is charged with protecting groundwater quality and preventing the spread of wastewater related disease.

Well and Water Quality Program
The Well and Water Quality Program is responsible for ensuring that private water supplies are protected and supply a safe source of potable water.

Other Person County Environmental Health Programs
Environmental Health is also responsible for ensuring that public swimming pools and tattoo parlors operate safely and are in compliance with State regulations, as well as collaborating with other Health Department staff in lead investigations.
